Description

<P>The 18.3GB 80-pin Ultrastar 36LZX, the third generation of IBM s Ultrastar line, employs a revolutionary design to provide industry-leading performance and higher reliability. The Ultrastar 36LZX offers an incredible 10,000RPM rotational speed, a 4.9ms average seek time, and a 160MB per second data transfer rate through its Ultra160 SCSI interface. (Ultra160 SCSI is an implementation of the Ultra3 SCSI standard and includes three of the five features.) And, IBM has made the 36LZX more reliable by using glass platters and load/unload technology. Load/unload parks the recording heads off the disk platters when they aren t in use, which reduces the chance of wear reduction and power usage in standby mode. </P>
